Silverado 2500 HD Trims and Launch Prices

The 2500 HD launched in 6 trims, and each step up builds on a lower trim, though not always the one just before it. The ZR2 builds on the LT, and the High Country builds on the LTZ.

Trim MSRP at Launch What it adds
Work Truck (WT) $45,900 The starting trim, with Chevrolet Infotainment 3 on a 7-inch HD touchscreen, Bluetooth, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility
Custom $49,200 Over the Work Truck: color-keyed carpeting, deep-tinted glass, and high-gloss Black front and rear bumpers

Which Trim Fits Your Work

The right 2500 HD trim is the lowest one with the features you will use every day, because the launch price climbs quickly past the LT. The Work Truck fits a truck bought mainly for work, where price comes first, and it still has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Custom, $3,300 above the Work Truck at launch, adds a more finished look with color-keyed carpeting, deep-tinted glass and high-gloss Black bumpers. The LT, $3,400 above the Custom at launch, suits a truck that also handles everyday driving. It adds the larger touchscreen, Keyless Open and Start, and 120-volt power outlets in the cab and bed.

The LTZ, $10,700 above the LT at launch, suits drivers who tow often and spend long days in the driver seat. For towing, it adds power vertical trailering mirrors, plus Hitch Guidance with Hitch View and the In-Vehicle Trailering App. For long days, it adds 10-way power front seats with driver memory. It also adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The ZR2, $20,600 above the LT at launch, fits a truck that works off the pavement. It has Multimatic DSSV dampers, a 1.5-inch suspension lift and 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires. It also has a rear electronic locking differential and an aluminum front skid plate.

The High Country adds comfort to the LTZ, with ventilated front seats and Bose audio, for $10,300 more at launch. Schedule a test drive when the choice between trims is close, since seats and screens are easier to judge in person.

Gas V8 or Duramax Diesel

The 2500 HD's engine choice comes down to how much you tow: the gas V8 tops out at 16,000 lb of conventional towing, and every higher conventional rating belongs to a Duramax diesel build. Both engines are 6.6-liter V8s, but they make different horsepower and torque.

Engine Horsepower Torque
6.6L gas V8 401 hp at 5,200 rpm 464 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm
Duramax 6.6L V8 turbo-diesel 470 hp 975 lb-ft

Towing, Payload and Bed Sizes

The 2500 HD tows up to 20,000 lb on a conventional hitch, but only as a Crew Cab with the Duramax diesel and the Max Towing Package. Find the row below that matches the engine, cab, bed and package of the truck you are considering.

Hitch Engine Build Rating
5th-wheel or gooseneck Duramax diesel 2WD Crew Cab, long bed, Max Towing Package Up to 22,070 lb
Conventional Duramax diesel Crew Cab, standard or long bed, Max Towing Package Up to 20,000 lb
Conventional Duramax diesel Double Cab, long bed, no Max Towing Package 17,900 lb (2WD) or 17,600 lb (4WD)
Conventional Duramax diesel Regular Cab, or a standard-bed Double Cab; no Max Towing Package 14,500 lb
Conventional Gas V8 Crew Cab with either bed, or a long-bed Double Cab; 2WD or 4WD 16,000 lb
Conventional Gas V8 Regular Cab, or a standard-bed Double Cab; 2WD or 4WD 14,500 lb

Before you buy a vehicle or use it for trailering, carefully review the Trailering section of the Owner’s Manual.

Cab and bed set the rating as much as the engine does, so a gas Crew Cab is rated above a Duramax Regular Cab without a Max Towing Package.

Payload runs up to 3,689 lb on a 2WD Regular Cab with the gas V8. The label on each truck's door jamb shows what that truck can carry.

The 2500 HD bed comes in 2 lengths.

Bed Length at the floor Cargo volume
Standard Bed 82.25 in 69.5 cu ft
Long Bed 98.27 in 83.5 cu ft

On a Double Cab, the Long Bed also raises the tow rating with either engine.

Cabin and Technology by Trim

Inside the 2500 HD, the trim decides the screen, seats, audio and cameras, and packages bring some top-trim features to the LT and LTZ.

  • Navigation and Google built-in: Every trim from the LT up has navigation capability and Google built-in compatibility on its touchscreen (a select service plan is required; terms and limitations apply).
  • Seats: The Work Truck, Custom, LT and LTZ come with a 40/20/40 front bench (leather-appointed on the LTZ), which seats up to 6 in a Double Cab or Crew Cab. A Regular Cab holds fewer, and so does a truck with front bucket seats. The LT can add front bucket seats on the Double Cab and Crew Cab with the Convenience Package, and the LTZ gets them only in an LTZ package (Convenience, Plus, Premium or Texas Edition).
  • Audio: Bose 7-speaker audio is standard on the ZR2 and High Country, and the LTZ can add it with LTZ Convenience Package I. The Work Truck, Custom and LT do not offer it.
  • Cameras: Every pickup from the Work Truck through the LTZ has the HD Rear Vision Camera, and choosing the pickup-bed delete removes it. HD Surround Vision with a Bed View Camera is standard on the High Country and ZR2, and the LT and LTZ offer it with the Safety Package, though the LT cannot get it on a Regular Cab or with the pickup-bed delete.
  • Technology Package: It adds a Rear Camera Mirror and a 15-inch Head-Up Display, and the ZR2 includes it. The High Country gets it with the High Country Premium Package, the LTZ needs LTZ Convenience Packages I and II plus the Safety Package, and no trim below the LTZ offers it.
  • Wireless charging: It comes on the ZR2 and High Country, with the bucket seats on the LT, and with the LTZ Convenience Package on the LTZ. It is not compatible with all phones.
  • Driver assistance: Automatic Emergency Braking is standard on every 2500 HD. Adaptive Cruise Control comes standard on the High Country; the ZR2 gets it through its Technology Package, and LTZ Convenience Package II adds it to the LTZ. Both the ZR2 and the High Country also include Front and Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert and the Safety Alert Seat. Whether a truck has Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert depends on its trim and package.

Safety or driver assistance features are no substitute for the driver's responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. Read the vehicle Owner's Manual for important feature limitations and information.
