Google Built-In on Chevrolet Infotainment Screens

Google built-in, which Chevrolet lists as “Google built-in compatibility,” is part of the vehicle’s own infotainment system on the Chevrolets and trims that have it. Whether you get it, and on which screen, depends on the model, model year and trim. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are separate phone projection features. For Central Indiana drivers comparing Chevrolets, start with our new Chevrolet inventory, then match the Chevrolet you’re considering to our Google built-in model table.

Google Built-In, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compared

The three names on a Chevrolet listing describe two different kinds of features, and each one is checked on its own.

Feature What It Is Where to Check It
Google built-in Part of certain Chevrolet infotainment systems Chevrolet Models and Trims With Google Built-In
Apple CarPlay Phone projection, a separate feature from Google built-in Phone Projection by Chevrolet Model
Android Auto Phone projection, a separate feature from Google built-in Phone Projection by Chevrolet Model

The Chevrolet you choose determines which infotainment equipment is in the dash. When comparing listings, check Google built-in and phone projection separately so you know which features belong to the vehicle you’re considering.

On the 2026 Silverado 1500 trims that have it, Google built-in compatibility includes Google Assistant to call or text friends, set reminders or control temperature, and Google Maps to help navigate, all from the center display. Those trims are the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ and High Country, which carry the Premium infotainment system.

The 2026 Traverse uses apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play through its Google built-in compatibility. These are examples, not a complete list.

The 2026 Equinox EV pairs Google built-in compatibility with its standard 17.7-inch diagonal center touch-screen.

The 2026 Silverado 1500 lists wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto on both its Chevrolet Infotainment 3 and Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium systems. The 2026 Colorado, 2026 Equinox and 2026 Suburban also list both wireless features on every trim.

The 2027 Equinox lists Apple CarPlay compatibility and Android Auto compatibility. Check the model year when comparing it with the 2026 Equinox.

With a 2026 Silverado 1500, Apple CarPlay requires a compatible iPhone, and data plan rates apply. For a 2026 Silverado 1500, Android Auto requires an Android phone running Android 6 or higher, an active data plan and the Android Auto app.

For 2026, the Equinox EV has Google built-in compatibility but no CarPlay or Android Auto. Plan on the built-in system if that is the Chevrolet you choose.
