3 Wineries You Should Check Out around Anderson, Indiana

Belgian Horse Winery

Set in a beautiful rural location, Belgian Horse Winery on West County Road 625 North in Middleton is located on a farm that used to breed Belgian horses. The horse barn has been converted into a charming seating area and tasting room on the main floor with an event room with a stage upstairs. Outside is an extensive patio area set up on old silo bases. An outdoor stage hosts live music events. Watch for special events and food truck visits. The wine portfolio includes Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Concord, Catawba, and blended wines such as the Midnight Molly Blend, Spring Puppy Blend, and Old Tom Blend. They also offer fruit wines named after family members, like the Sophie Cranberry Riesling, Harry’s Rhubarb Raspberry, Cousin Elaine Raspberry, Uncle Fred Peach, and more. You should also try the amazing wine slushies.

Madison County Winery

Located on South 400 East in Markleville, Madison County Winery is run by a husband-and-wife team in a rustic setting. The cozy tasting room has a lovely seating area, a bar, and a gift shop area. A porch and patio offer seating looking out over the vineyard, and on colder days, you can enjoy tasting the selection of wines by the fire. They have recently opened an RV resort with nine available sites and more to follow. Some offer full hook up while the others offer power and water. The constantly changing wine list offers a variety of dry and sweet wines. For the dry palette, try the Blank Blanc, Chelois, Cabernet Sauvignon, or Cayuga White. The semi-sweet offering is Apples and Cinnamon, while the sweet wines include Chocolate, Pick A Pear, Candy Apple, Love Potion #9, Blueberry Moscato and more. The winery hosts a variety of events throughout the year, with painting classes, food classes, and festivals to name a few.

Country Moon Winery

Country Moon Winery is located on Prairie Baptist Road in Noblesville and offers tours of the vineyards featuring stunning views of the Indiana countryside. The winery even has its own butterfly garden for added charm. Free tastings are available on Saturdays without an appointment, and tours will be given when the weather permits. Tastings, tours, and private parties are available on other days by arrangement. The grape varieties, specially chosen for their suitability to central Indiana, include La crescent, Concord, Prairie Star, Norton, and Swenson Red. On the varied wine list, you’ll find an off-dry Apple Spice, the dry Wapahani White, a semi-sweet La Crescent, the sweet Sunbonnet, the dry red Norton’s Seedling, Brambleberry semi-sweet red, Patchwork Pink semi-sweet blush, the sweet red Native Harvest, the sweetest red Concord Mist, and the sweetest blush Melon Burst.
