Indiana is a midwestern state that can go from the extreme cold in winter to the extreme hot in summer. When you’re looking for a way to beat the heat or just need to satisfy your sweet tooth, try one of these four great spots for ice cream and dessert in Anderson, IN.

4 Great Spots for Ice Cream and Dessert in Anderson, IN

Frazier’s Dairy Maid

This ice cream shop has just recently reopened, but it’s already shooting up locals’ lists of places to get a cold sweet treat. Soft serve ice cream in a variety of flavors is on the menu and visitors can’t get enough.

The shop is reminiscent of a 1950s diner and while you can also order hot food like chili dogs and sloppy Joes, the ice cream really is the star of the show. Flavors like refreshing lemon and traditional vanilla and chocolate are popular among patrons, along with more innovative creations like Blue Moon.

Good’s Candy Shop

Good’s was once exclusively a small, old-fashioned candy store, but it eventually expanded to include handmade ice cream in a number of delicious flavors. Fruit flavors with no sugar added are popular here, including black raspberry and peach.

You can also get sundaes, homemade chocolates, and fudge if you’d rather have something other than the traditional scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone. However, you can’t beat the ice cream at Good’s Candy Shop, so maybe you should order a little bit of everything.

Yummerful

Yummerful offers handmade ice cream that is creamy, rich, and flavorful. You’ll find the traditional flavors of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate chip, and more on the menu, but there are also some creative flavors like Kitty Kitty Bang Bang, Bourbon Spiked Espresso, and Door Country Cherry that will satisfy your desire for more exotic creations.

There is even a flavor called This $&@! Just Got Serious, which is salted caramel ice cream mixed with sea salt, cashews, and fudge. The flavors change frequently, so if you see one you want to try, snap it up in a freshly made waffle cone or bowl.

Gene’s Root Beer

The only ice cream on the menu at Gene’s Root Beer is chocolate, vanilla, or twist soft serve, but this spot is not about the ice cream, but the root beer and the fantastic root beer floats you can get with the ice cream. The root beer is handmade in-house, and the creamy flavor of the soda is what makes these root beer floats worth passing by other ice cream spots to get to Gene’s.

Shakes and dip cones are also on the menu, along with hot food in the style of an old-school diner.

Anderson has some excellent places to grab a cold cone or a delectable dessert, including the four spots on this list. You won’t be disappointed in your sweet treat from any of these shops!
