Engines

Chevrolet is offering two engine options, one gas and one diesel. The gas engine is a 6.6-liter V8 that delivers an impressive 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft of torque. The diesel engine is a Duramax 6.6-liter turbocharged V8. It delivers 470 horsepower and 975 lb.-ft of torque.

Transmission

Chevrolet is excited about the wide availability of the 10-speed Allison automatic transmission this year. This transmission offers a smoother performance when shifting. There is a towing mode that offers better control when you’re hauling heavy loads.

Towing Capacity

The maximum available trailering capacity for this model is 36,000 pounds. This is achieved with the 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 and the trailering package and gooseneck hitch. You’ll need the Silverado 3500 HD with a regular cab and long bed with two-wheel drive. With the Silverado 2500 HD with the diesel engine, you have a maximum trailering capacity of 22,500 pounds.

If you go for the gas engine, there is a maximum towing capacity of 19,090 pounds. You’ll need the Silverado 3500 HD with a regular cab, long bed, and two-wheel drive along with the gooseneck hitch. This configuration also has a maximum available payload of 7,290 pounds.

Cargo

This truck comes with 69.5 cubic feet of cargo volume, which represents more cargo area than the competition offers. The cargo area has high-strength roll-formed steel. It also comes standard with 12 tie-towns. Each of these is rated at 500 pounds per corner.

Standard Safety Assist Features

The standard Silverado comes with a list of great driver-assist features for 2024. These include a forward collision alert and lane departure warning. There’s also automatic emergency braking and front pedestrian braking. The Silverado also comes with a following distance indicator and IntelliBeam, Chevrolet’s high beam assist feature.

Five Trim Levels

Chevrolet is offering five different trim levels for drivers to choose from. These begin with Work Truck and go up to Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.

The top trim level comes with features like a bed view camera, premium leather seating, and heated front and second-row outboard seats. There are also advanced safety assist features including a rear cross-traffic alert, safety alert seat, and trailer side blind zone alert. There’s also a front and rear park assist for the High Country.
