Why the chip shortage has led to less Chevy inventory at your Anderson Chevy dealership

Why the chip shortage has led to less Chevy inventory at your Anderson Chevy dealership

The shortage of semiconductor chips over the past year has been one of the tech industry’s biggest problems. Auto manufacturers have been hit the hardest by this and supply chain and production have been heavily stalled. With demand of electronic devices at an all time high, chip manufacturers have struggled to catch up with demand and you may notice lower inventory than normal when visiting your local Chevy dealer. Why the chip shortage has led to less Chevy inventory at your Anderson Chevy dealership more Semiconductors are central to chips and circuit boards. In cars, they help run everything from digital displays to control systems. A global shortage of semiconductor chips has forced auto manufacturers to cut back on production and prioritize key features of vehicles over extras. Auto industry experts believe the supply shortage may impact the industry for as long as two years; while consumers are seeing this now with dealerships having limited inventory, this may be the trend through 2021. Is the automotive industry being prioritized? Lockdowns have caused factories to close and led to decreased chip production. Semiconductor chips are heavily utilized by the makers of personal electronics, another industry that has witnessed a huge jump in demand. Chip producers have been left trying to increase their production while car makers, computing, and phone manufacturers have fought to get their hands on more semiconductor chips. What does this mean when buying a car in Anderson, IN? While the global shortage of semiconductor chips has limited options for new-car buyers, our team at Ed Martin Chevrolet is here to help. Browse our available inventory on our Chevy dealership site. Don’t see the vehicle you’re interested in? Use our Find My Car form and a member of our team will reach out to you. The 2020 Chevy Silverado has proved to be a popular rival for the Dodge Ram and Ford F-150. With a plethora of Silverado variations available, how do you pick the best one for you? To help you decide, we've compared the key differences between Chevy's Silverado 1500 and the 2500HD models. 7 Key Differences Between the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2500HD more 1. Torque Power isn't everything when it comes to choosing the best truck for your needs. How the power gets to the road is just as important, especially if you plan on towing heavy loads. Chevy's Silverado 1500 (with the standard engine), creates 305 lb-ft of torque while the 2500HD produces 50% more with 464 lb-ft. If you plan on pulling heavy loads, the 2500HD is a solid choice. 5. Thankfully, at 229.5 inches, the Silverado 1500 fits comfortably into parking spaces and garages. What Comes With a Fully-Loaded 2020 Chevrolet Silverado

One word captures heavy-duty trucks: beasts. We aren't talking about everyday pickups. We're talking the ones you turn to when you need the real load capacity, towing ability, and massive horsepower. Chevrolet delivers this in the 2020 Silverado HD. But we wondered, what if you fully-loaded one with all the options? What Comes With a Fully-Loaded 2020 Chevrolet Silverado more The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Before we go all the way with the 2020 Silverado HD, we need a baseline. Conveniently, Chevy gives us a base level trim as our starting point. Heavy Duty Minimums: Work Truck Trim In Work Truck spec, with just a regular cab and a long bed, the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is a respectable $35,695. Notably, this is $300 less than the comparable 2019 model. The 6.6 liter, gasoline-powered V8 achieves 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque coupled to a six-speed automatic. From Work Trim to Fully-Loaded The 2500 HD Work Trim (WT) is only two-wheel-drive and has (split) bench seats, but it includes a color touch-screen infotainment system with Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. Quite fancy for a bare-bones beast. If we push the trim to the top level (High Country), we get four-wheel-drive, crew cab, long bed, and a host of luxuries for $62,895. Going Full Beast With the Silverado 3500 HD To push all the way to the limits of Chevrolet's Silverado 3500 HD configuration tool, we selected the High Country trim and chose the 6.6 liter Duramax Turbodiesel V-8 paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission. (We avoided dual-wheels, as that's such a rarity.) Now at $73,645, we have: Long bed Crew cab 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque Tow/haul mode to improve load control and engine cooling Automatic grade braking to improve downhill control Four-wheel drive Leather interior Adding All the Options First, our truck should be beautiful with Iridescent Pearl Tricoat Paint ($995). Though it seems counter to our max-this-beast-out efforts, we actually save money by including most of our favorite individual options into a single “High Country Deluxe” package (total $3,065). Rare would be the individual who would actually need them all, but if you did, you would have the most beastly of heavy-duty pickup trucks, and your final total (at least according to our calculations), would be a little north of $81,000. But what a beast! To test drive the the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, head over to the truck experts at Ed Martin Chevrolet in Anderson, IN. Image courtesy of chevrolet.com

Why Commuters Love the 2020 Chevy Sonic more Sporty Look The entry-level Sonic has 15-inch steel wheels, and the LT adds 17-inch painted alloy wheels. This mid-level trim also has heated and power-adjustable side door mirrors. Stepping up to the Premier adds 17-inch alloy wheels and a sporty rear deck spoiler. Fuel-Efficient Powertrain The Sonic gets its strength from a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 138 horsepower and pairs with front-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission. The four-cylinder has plenty of power to quickly get you up to cruising speed on the highway, and it easily passes slower vehicles as you zip down the road to work. The Sonic is quick and responsive, with handling that helps you feel confident when driving in traffic. Superior Technology Even the base Sonic comes with lots of tech features to keep you connected and informed while you drive to work. A 7-inch touch-screen display sits in the dash and works with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You also get Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and the updated Chevy Infotainment 3 system that you can operate using voice commands. Sirius radio and cruise control come in the LT trim and above. If you opt for the LT Convenience Package, you'll gain keyless entry and start. Comfortable Cabin Your ride to work will be comfortable at any time of year with standard air conditioning in all models. The Premier has all the creature comforts, including heated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a heated steering wheel, and leatherette upholstery. In the back, the sedan has 14.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and the hatchback has 19 cubic feet. Fold the seats down in the hatchback, and you get more than 47 cubic feet of cargo space. Unsurpassed Safety Drivers feel safe in the Sonic, thanks to its five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It comes standard with a rearview camera, stability control, anti-lock brakes, and 10 air bags, more than other vehicles in its class. The Sonic also has crash-collapsible pedals to help protect the driver's feet and legs in the case of an accident. If you choose to add Chevy's Driver Confidence Package, you'll get rear park assist, a forward-collision alert, and lane-departure warning.
